10/17 20th Anniversary Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

In 1996, the Susan G. Komen Miami/Ft. Lauderdale Race for the Cure® started with a few hundred participants and a band of warriors passionate about raising money to find a cure for breast cancer.

In the 20 years since, we have come a long way -- from a Race with a few hundred people to a movement with more than 20,000 people annually. Since its inception, more than 120,000 people have participated in the 5K Walk/Run, One Mile Fun Walk and Tot Run, while raising more than $14 million to fund the fight against breast cancer locally.

If you haven’t already done so, we invite you to join 101.5 LITE FM and register for our 20th Anniversary Race for the Cure® on Saturday, October 17th at Bayfront Park.

When you register you are taking the first step in supporting breast health programs that serve low-income women in our community with little to no insurance.

Saturday, 7:30 am, Bayfront Park in Downtown Miami
10/18 21st Annual Buddy Walk

Join Julie Guy at the 21st Annual Buddy Walk at Markham Park in Sunrise.

What is the Buddy Walk?

The Buddy Walk was established by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to celebrate Down syndrome Awareness Month in October. It is a walk that anyone can participate in without special training.

The Buddy Walk has three primary goals: to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome; to raise funds locally and nationally for education, research and advocacy programs; and to enhance the position of the Down syndrome community, enabling us to positively influence local and national policy and practice.
