Damn, Sam, You Got Slammed

February 29, 2016
Sam Smith won an Oscar Sunday night for Best Original Song (it was "Writing's on the Wall" for Spectre, the James Bond movie).

During his speech, he misquoted Sir Ian McKellen, saying "no openly gay man had won an Oscar."

What Sir Ian said was no openly gay man had ever won the Best Actor Oscar.

So Sam accepted his Oscar on behalf of the LGBT community, which was a nice gesture.

But, one openly gay man who had one an Oscar - screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, who won for the 2008 film, Milk - let Sam have it.

It was a tongue-in-cheek thing, but a true slap as well, and it went viral in a hurry.

At this writing, it's still spinning out of control...
