If you go by the latest department store flyers, you'd think that dads want lots of suave clothing, fashionable ties and boat shoes. Maybe some cologne (especially with a free tote bag!).
Apparently this is not exactly what dads want, at least not according to AskMen.com. Their list of top gifts for dads includes things like grilling tools, fishing gear and 'gadgets'.
So why the disparity?
Well, when you're a kid buying a gift for Dad for Father's Day, you probably don't have a lot of money. So mom tells you to get him something like a tie, or a handkerchief, or maybe a funny golf ball - something you can afford, knowing that Dad will love anything you give him because you're his child.
On the other hand, when you're a wife buying a Father's Day gift for your husband, you might be inclined to buy things for him ...
