Temperatures are climbing every day, the heat index is rising and the increasing rain keeps a constant mugginess in the air.
For some people this is tropical splendor, exactly the reason they live in South Florida.
For others (me), summer is a constant chase for an air conditioned room, an ice cold glass of water or a pool. If you also find the summer temperatures a little oppressive, here are some ways to keep your personal temperature at a comfortable level (without racking up huge electric bills).
1. Keep your a/c working efficiently by changing the filter regularly. One way to make it a monthly habit? Change the filter the same day you pay the mortgage (or the electric bill!).
2. Help your a/c do its job better by using ceiling fans to move the cool around; and turn off appliances and electronics when they're not in use.
