I know I'm not crazy. Parking spots really HAVE gotten smaller. Or maybe cars have gotten bigger. Or maybe it's both.
What I know for sure (to borrow a phrase from Oprah) is that cars don't fit into parking spaces the same way people's behinds don't fit into chairs at ballparks and a round roll of toilet paper doesn't fit properly onto a square toilet paper holder (ever try making those 'roll'? Ha!).
I notice this especially in the parking lots that have painted double lines around the spaces. Maybe they think that will help guide us into parking straighter - but what it really does is make the spot smaller, and ultimately someone will park over both of the lines and into the spot next to theirs, taking up a space and a half.
