... in the eyes of others, anyway.
A new research study shows that people judge a person's age by their ability to do certain activities. For example, people who still shop for themselves or take care of their own household chores are less likely to be perceived by others as old, regardless of their actual age. Having characteristics that are generally associated with younger people - being aware, active and independent - can fool people into thinking you're younger than you are.
So if you want people to see you as young, no matter what your age, get out of the house and do stuff. Like shop. By the end of this Black Friday weekend you'll be about four decades younger!
A few extra reasons to hit the malls this weekend, NOT part of a research study:
All that walking is great exercise.
The decorations make you feel festive.
Even if you don't spend a penny, you can great ideas for gift-giving or home makeovers.
You'll see at least one person who will be dressed so bizarrely, you'll have a great laugh!
Enjoy, and happy holidays!
