Today is Read Across America Day, commemorating Dr. Seuss' birthday, and encouraging children to read, and parents to read to children.
Whether you're favorite Dr. Seuss book is 'Hop on Pop!', 'The Cat in the Hat', or 'Green Eggs and Ham'; or you prefer 'Curious George' or 'The Golden Books' series, I urge you to take ten minutes each day to read with your kids. I'll always treasure my mom reading 'Are You My Mother?' to me!

Why is the Boston Pops called 'America's Orchestra'? Pops Conductor, Keith Lockhart, answered that question when I spoke to him this morning. He's nothing like how I used to imagine orchestra conductors - as you can see in the picture! Nothing old-fogey here, and the same goes for their performance of The Streisand Songbook at the Arsht Center Tuesday night. Click to listen to the interview and find out how I'm now within one degree of Bono (thank you Keith!).
Here's information about the Pops performance Tuesday.
Happy weekend!
