Spring brings ... allergies!

I recently came across a new product designed for kids with allergies. It's a 'Don't Feed Me' t-shirt, with a list of common foods that kids are allergic to. You write your child's name on the shirt, check off the foods they shouldn't eat, then send them out in the world, confident that no one will accidentally give them the peanut butter, strawberries or fish that will set off an allergic reaction.
Unfortunately, you can't escape pollen. It's everywhere, and according to experts, in higher levels this year. Are you finding yourself congested, rubbing your itchy eyes and coughing lately?
Try these tips for surviving the allergy season:
1. Wear sunglasses to keep airborne allergens out of your eyes.
2. Consider exercising indoors on high-pollen days.
3. If you take allergy medications, try taking them earlier - many work better if you start them before symptoms even begin.
4. Shower before going to bed to reduce the number of allergens that are brought into your bedroom.
5. Keep your windows closed and your a/c set to 'recirculate' to keep pollen out of the house.
