"If You Think Luke Is Gay, Of Course He Is"

March 7, 2016
Not too long ago, JJ Abrams, the new man behind the helm of the Star Wars movies, suggested that there could be gay characters in the franchise's future.

Responding to some fans calling for more diversity in the films, Abrams told The Daily Beast:

“To me, the fun of Star Wars is the glory of possibility. So it seems insanely narrow-minded and counterintuitive to say that there wouldn’t be a homosexual character in that world.”

And then Mark Hamill - you know, the Luke Skywalker who showed up for about 30 seconds in the latest movie - weighed in, opening up the possibility that even Luke could be gay:

"I’d say it is meant to be interpreted by the viewer. If you think Luke is gay, of course he is. You should not be ashamed of it. Judge Luke by his character, not by who he loves.”

Bottom line, kids. Use the Force however you like.

And check out this video of Mark at one of the European premieres, talking about what his character's name was supposed to be. Hmmm...
