Tonight's Telethon for Hurricane Victims Adds Even More Star Power

Oprah, George Clooney & More Will Be Featured in Tonight's Broadcast

September 5, 2017

It's going to be a jam packed hour. Tonight's telethon for relief from Hurricanes Harvey and Irma just added more celebrities to the impressive list for the big broadcast.

When the program was first announced, it was supposed to be for victims of Hurricane Harvey. That, of course, was before Hurricane Irma ravaged parts of Florida. As a result, the show will raise funds for victims of both storms.

Hand in Hand will air on tonight at 8pm ET across the major networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX) and CMT.  The program will be broadcast from the Universal Studios lot in Los Angeles, Times Square in New York City, and the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

The telecast will also include an appearance from George Strait as he performs a benefit concert at the Majestic Theater in San Antonio, Texas.

Musicians attached to the project include: Beyoncé, Barbra Streisand, Demi Lovato, Blake Shelton, Justin Bieber, and Justin Timberlake.

Meanwhile, Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Reese Witherspoon, Rob Lowe, Matthew McConaughey, Adam Sandler, and Ryan Seacrest are among some of the notable celebrities attached to the telethon.

The program's production has been led by Houston native Bun B and SB Projects. SB Projects and its founder Scooter Braun produced Ariana Grande's One Love Manchester benefit earlier this summer.

Proceeds from the telethon will benefit organizations working on the ground in areas that were affected by Hurricane Harvey.
