UPDATE: Britney Spears Won't Perform at The Super Bowl Next Year

July 12, 2017

UPDATED (July 13): It looks like Britney Spears won't be next year's Superbowl halftime performer after all.

Pepsi's marketing director, Justin Toman, basically closed the lid on the rumors that Britney would headline this year's Superbowl halftime show

Pepsi is the primary sponsor of the show. Toman made the comments at an industry panel in Los Angeles yesterday (July 12).

When asked about who could perform at this year's show, Toman reportedly said, "I can tell you it's not Britney."

ORIGINAL STORY (July 12): Britney Spears has been "killing it" with her very popular Las Vegas show, and now she wants the chance to "slay" at the most watched television event of the year.

The 35-year-old pop star has reportedly told the NFL that she would like to perform at Superbowl LII (February 2018) halftime show. In fact, Spears' associates have had conversations with executives who are tied to the broadcast about the possibility of her performing at next year's show, according to the New York Daily News.

It's possible she could be a solo headliner (like Lady Gaga was earlier this year) or she could be packaged with other performers. The "Oops!... I Did it Again" singer performed at The Super Bowl in 2001 alongside Aerosmith, 'N Sync, and more.

Britney's Las Vegas residency is expected to close at the end of the year. She has started touring with a similar show for Britney: Live in Concert. The show just made stops in Israel, Singapore, Hong Kong, and more. Additional dates for the tour are expected to be announced soon.
