If you encounter a black bear in Florida, as a couple did last week in West Palm Beach, it's not likely to be as polite as the one pictured here, nor as friendly as the one in this adorable video (Did that bear really just say "hello"?).
Bear sightings in the state have multiplied by 400% in the last 20 years.
Some things to keep in mind if you spot a bear:
Keep your distance.
Avoid direct eye contact.
Speak to the bear in a calm, assertive voice.
