When will your kids move out?

Posted 8/6/2013 12:38:00 PM

Not soon. According to the latest survey, a record number of young adults, ages 18-31 are still living at home with mom and dad.  At last count, 36 percent of Millennials lived with their parents in 2012. And young men are more likely than young women to still be at home. Must be those great home cooked meals and laundry service.

Why are they still here? The high cost of housing to blame, as well as many are still in college and many still can't find a job after college.

Does your child need to be shot?

Posted 8/5/2013 12:13:00 PM

It's immunization time before back-to-school. Find out if your kid needs to get vaccinated before class begins August 19th.

You can click here for the Florida Department of Health.  You'll find school immunization requirements and much more.

Also Broward County is offering free immunizations at Lauderhill Mall all this week.

And the City of Hialeah is offering free immunizations Tuesday at the Goodlet Adult Center.

Historic Florida going on sale

Posted 8/2/2013 2:13:00 PM

It's a piece of Florida from years gone by. Magic City Farms. The gardens and grouping of wooden cottages is an isolated bit of Florida's past that is going on the selling block. The owner getting on in her years can't keep up the property, that she has fixed up and spruced up and fine tuned to a work of art.

Not in the most attractive areas, it sits off the Miami River, bordered by railroad tracks, but it is beautiful just the same and is for sale for 1.3 million dollars.

Check it  out here.

Want to talk to your teen?

Posted 7/30/2013 2:08:00 PM

Try texting. Research has found what we already know teens love to text. And teens find texting both faster and easier than voice calls. This may explain why teens send or receive 33-hundred texts a month.

And why not make it convenient for your teen to answer you on their terms. They can text back when they want and they can end the conversation when they want.  That way you don't have to hear the whining, sighing and eye-rolling.

High School doesn't last forever

Posted 7/23/2013 2:12:00 PM

Really. Researchers have found those kids who were so popular in high school will not necessarily make more money out in the real world. And that those unpopular kids who were picked on and teased won't necessarily be down-trodden in the workforce and that taunting won't have any determination of their money making potential.

What really affects future income, family life, genetics and parenting.
